MediCool is developing Cool Cardioversion™, a novel approach to treating atrial fibrillation, with an initial focus on post-operative atrial fibrillation (POAF).  Cool Cardioversion™ uses a temporarily placed balloon catheter that painlessly cools small amount of cardiac tissue to quickly terminate episodes of POAF.  It is placed during normal course of cardiac surgery and uses circulation of chilled saline to restore normal sinus rhythm without freezing or damaging cardiac tissue. When the patient’s chest tubes are removed, the balloon is also removed, and the patient’s normal course of care is continued to discharge.
