MediCool was founded at the Mayo Clinic by Dr. Paul Friedman and Dr. Sam Asirvatham to develop a novel painless therapy for dangerous cardiac arrhythmias.  Our extensive pre-clinical work, which was funded by two NSF SBIR grants, was published in the Journal of the America College of Cardiology and demonstrated the effectiveness of cooling to terminate atrial fibrillation.  Our pre-clinical work led to a first-in-human study that showed even more successful results.  This data was published recently in Heart Rhythm O2, an official journal of the Heart Rhythm Society.   Our next crucial milestone is the completion of a US Early Feasibility Study in 2026 to provide detailed clinical data on the effectiveness of our treatment on post-operative A-Fib.
